SOLAR TRAINING CENTER More than 1000 participants were successfully trained in photovoltaics in the last 4 years. 6 PV training units, installed on the site of North-West University, can be used continuously for practical training.
SUNCYbernetics in association with their project partner is operating the Solar Training Center SA at the Campus of the North-West University in Potchefstroom. One of the aims is to establish sustainable knowledge transfer by teaching both the practical as well as the theoretical knowledge related to photovoltaic energy solutions. The students, electricians and installers trained at this facility are enabled to plan, install, maintain and operate PV plants. Using solar energy in South Africa is not only important to get independent from fossil energy, but also it is a key-driver in job creation.

Our operating South African project partner the North-West University (NWU) Potchefstroom is responsible for teaching and research in technology. The Training Courses operated will increase the experience with photovoltaic solutions and provide qualified personnel with suitable education in renewable energy.

In 2013/2014 this project was supported by the DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH with funds from the programme "Climate partnerships with the private sector" of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Our commitment does not end with support. Continuing trainings are enabling hundreds of participants to train in the pioneering solar energy sector year for year.
